Christmas Party 2019

Christmas PartyIt is that time again when the members of MARS get together and enjoy the traditional MARS feast to celebrate the festive season.

Members new and old are invited to join us at 19:00 hrs on Wednesday 11th December at MARS HQ. All we ask is that you bring something for everyone to share at the buffet, but please no alcohol – this is not permitted on site by the venue.

The Christmas party is always well attended and this will be our last meeting of the year with our next meeting on 8th January 2020.

Wythall Hamfest 2019

There are just a few days to go until MARS heads down to Wythall again.

Following the success of the MARS stand last year, raising several hundred pounds for the club’s funds, we are again represented at the rally with a table including surplus equipment and donations from the estate of Derek Buckley, G7ORT (SK).

We’re looking forward to seeing you at our stand. Head over to the Wythall Radio Club page for more information about the 2019 Wythall Hamfest.

Jamboree on the Air

JOTA 2018This Saturday 20th October is international Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) where Scout groups across the world will all be setting up radio stations to mark the occasion. To this end, MARS will be operating a special event station with callsign GB8SFL at the 293rd St. Faith and St. Laurence Scout group all day Saturday to help the Scouts make contact with as many other Scout groups as possible! Listen out for us on the bands and give us a call if you hear us.

Wythall Hamfest 2018

With less than a month to go until the 33rd Annual Wythall Hamfest, MARS is excited to announce that we shall be offering a quantity of surplus equipment from our stall in the Archery Hut. Amongst the offerings will be several radios and power supplies as well as general surplus bits & pieces and even a Mac Mini G4 all at realistic prices.

The Wythall Hamfest is, in our opinion, without doubt the best radio rally in the region, so why not make the Archery Hut your first hall to visit, say hello to the MARS team and pick up a bargain at our stall.

Party Like It’s 2017!

Unfortunately, the MARS 2017 Christmas Party was cancelled due to the inclement weather of the time, but now that the snow has gone (for now!) it’s time to have our belated Christmas Party. With the festive season firmly behind us, we’re well into the January blues so what better time to have our celebration than Wednesday 31st January?

As always, all are welcome – members past and present – as well as anyone who is interested in joining the club, whether you are already licensed or looking to embark on your amateur radio training. There is always a great turn out for the party, so it would be great to see as many people there as possible.

The traditional ‘grand buffet’ will be of course be laid on, and all we ask is that everyone brings a selection of party food to add to it. Please note, however, that alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

The party starts at our usual club meeting time of 19:00 at the usual location.
