MARS would like to wish a happy and prosperous 2020 to all.
Everyone at MARS is looking forward to the coming year with increasing activity on our weekly club net every Monday at 19:30 on +/- 145.425 MHz and especially this year’s Wythall Ham Fest on 15th March.
Last night was the traditional MARS Christmas party and a good time was had by all.
There are no more meetings now until the 8th January 2020, but that isn’t it for 2019 just yet! Local amateurs are welcome to join our weekly club net on 145.425 MHz (+/- according to band usage) every Monday at 19:30 hrs. It’s a great way to get active on the air and support our newly licensed members.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday period and we look forward to seeing you all in 2020!
It is that time again when the members of MARS get together and enjoy the traditional MARS feast to celebrate the festive season.
Members new and old are invited to join us at 19:00 hrs on Wednesday 11th December at MARS HQ. All we ask is that you bring something for everyone to share at the buffet, but please no alcohol – this is not permitted on site by the venue.
The Christmas party is always well attended and this will be our last meeting of the year with our next meeting on 8th January 2020.
There are just a few days to go until MARS heads down to Wythall again.
Following the success of the MARS stand last year, raising several hundred pounds for the club’s funds, we are again represented at the rally with a table including surplus equipment and donations from the estate of Derek Buckley, G7ORT (SK).
We’re looking forward to seeing you at our stand. Head over to the Wythall Radio Club page for more information about the 2019 Wythall Hamfest.
This Saturday 20th October is international Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) where Scout groups across the world will all be setting up radio stations to mark the occasion. To this end, MARS will be operating a special event station with callsign GB8SFL at the 293rd St. Faith and St. Laurence Scout group all day Saturday to help the Scouts make contact with as many other Scout groups as possible! Listen out for us on the bands and give us a call if you hear us.
The 2018 MARS AGM will be held this coming Wednesday, 17th October at 19:30 at our usual location. All members are encouraged to attend and nominations for committee members are open.
As always, we also welcome visitors, licensed or new to the hobby.
