I’M VERY WELL THANK YOU, By Jim Moy M1CPC

I’M VERY WELL THANK YOU

There’s nothing the matter with me,

I’m as healthy as can be,

I have arthritis in both my knees,

And when I talk – I talk with a wheeze.

My pulse is weak and my blood is thin,

But – I’m awfully well for the shape I’m in!

Arch supports I have for my feet

Or I wouldn’t be able to be out on the street.

Sleep is denied me night after night

But every morning I find I’m alright.

My memory’s failing, my head’s in a spin

But – I’m awfully well for the shape I’m in!

The moral is this – as my tale I unfold

That for you and me who are getting old,

It’s better to say ‘I’m fine’ with a grin

Of all the grand places my ‘got up’ has bin

Old age is golden I’ve heard it said!

But sometimes I wonder as I get into bed

With my ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,

My specs on a table until I get up,

‘Ere sleep overtakes me I say to myself

Is there anything else I could lay on the shelf?

When I was young my slippers were red

I could kick my heels right over my head;

When I was older my slippers were blue

But I could dance the whole night through!

Now I am old my slippers are black,

I walk to the shop and puff my way back.

I get up each morning and dust off my wits

And pick up the paper to read the ‘obits’

If my name is still missing, I know I’m not dead!

Club Net

Just as a reminder to all when participating in club net we shall be adopting the radio etiquette of using your call sign at the beginning and end of your transmission together with the call sign of who you are passing it over to.  This should save any confusion. Please also leave a gap of about 4 seconds between overs so anyone wishing to join in is able to call in with ‘break’ and their callsign.

Also we have decided to run the club net as normal on Mondays and Wednesdays but also extending it to a Friday evening as well at the same time and frequency.

Club Closure

Following the latest UK Government advice, MARS has decided to suspend all meetings until further notice.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly and have taken into consideration the implications for our members and the impact on their access to social contact. However, some of our members are likely to fall into the most at-risk groups for COVID-19 infection and the committee felt that suspending meetings was the most appropriate action to take.

In the meantime, we are planning to meet on the air every Monday and Wednesday at 19:30 hrs local time on or around 145.425 MHz, all are welcome.

That’s it for 2019!

New YearLast night was the traditional MARS Christmas party and a good time was had by all.

There are no more meetings now until the 8th January 2020, but that isn’t it for 2019 just yet! Local amateurs are welcome to join our weekly club net on 145.425 MHz (+/- according to band usage) every Monday at 19:30 hrs. It’s a great way to get active on the air and support our newly licensed members.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday period and we look forward to seeing you all in 2020!
